The Fox, Middle Barton

The Fox, Middle Barton

Middle Barton is barely a couple of minutes from the cottage, and The Fox sits right at the heart of the village. It's a Grade II-listed 18th-century pub that's currently being refurbished, with plans to reopen. We're keeping a close eye on it.

Middle Barton

The Fox, Middle Barton

There's something quietly promising about a proper village pub being brought back to life. The Fox is a handsome stone building on the main road through Middle Barton, listed for good reason: it has the kind of proportions and character that only centuries of use can produce. The refurbishment has been a while coming, and the details of what it will become are still emerging, but the bones are good and the location is hard to beat for anyone staying at the cottage.

Middle Barton itself is a pleasant, unshowy village with a small shop and a church worth a glance. If The Fox reopens as hoped, it could easily become our nearest go-to for a relaxed supper or a Sunday pint. We'll update this page once we know more, so check back closer to your stay.

“Fingers crossed for this one. A good pub two minutes from the front door would be the finishing touch.”
