One of the real luxuries of staying at Well Cottage is how close you are to Soho Farmhouse's Hay Barn spa. It's less than a mile down the lane, an easy walk or a gentle cycle through the Oxfordshire countryside.
The Hay Barn is a beautifully considered space: warm stone, soft light, the smell of eucalyptus drifting through the steam room. The hydrotherapy circuit is the real draw, moving you from heat to cold and back again until the outside world feels comfortably distant. There are ice baths for the brave, a sauna that overlooks the grounds, and treatment rooms where the therapists know what they're doing. Book ahead for treatments, especially at weekends.
Access is for Soho House members and guests staying on the estate, so if you're a member this is a wonderful reason to book Well Cottage. You can walk over in the morning, spend a couple of hours working through the circuit, and be back in time for lunch in the garden. It's the sort of place that makes a midweek stay feel like a proper retreat.
“After a cold morning walk through Great Tew, the hydrotherapy circuit at the Hay Barn is the best possible reward. I always leave wondering why I don't do it more often.”
All of this on the doorstep, and your own thatched cottage to come home to. Sleeps seven, less than a mile from Soho Farmhouse.
