Getting here

Driving directions

Ledwell is a small hamlet and SatNav occasionally misdirects — particularly on the final approach. The most reliable route is to set your destination to OX7 7AN and follow these directions from the A361.

From the A361 (Chipping Norton direction): take the turning signposted Great Tew and Sandford St Martin. Follow the lane through Sandford St Martin and continue toward Great Tew. Before reaching Great Tew village, look for the Ledwell turning on the left. Well Cottage is the stone cottage on the right as you enter the hamlet, opposite the old well.

From the B4022 (Enstone direction): head toward Great Tew. Pass through Great Tew and take the lane signposted Ledwell on the right. Well Cottage is on the left as you enter the hamlet.

If you get lost, the what3words address ///times.lurching.lunch will pin the exact entrance. Free parking for up to three vehicles on the property.

About the owner

Owned by James, hosted by Red Kite

My family moved to Well Cottage in 1979 — I grew up here. We live in London now, but the cottage has stayed in the family and the children love visiting; we still spend weekends here whenever we can.

Over the last two years we've been quietly bringing it up to scratch — decorating the interiors sympathetically, having the thatch re-done, and laying a new lawn that is finally good enough for proper croquet. The bones of the cottage haven't changed since the 1700s, and that's the way it should stay.

What we love most is the garden — long lunches outside in the summer — and the inglenook fires when the weather turns. We hope you find it as warm as we have.

Day-to-day bookings and guest care are looked after by Red Kite Hosts, our local hosting partner — they're the people you'll hear from when you enquire or arrive.
